Session «Mixed-use congress and exhibition complexes or Mixed-use venue: trends and necessity»

Today, congresses and exhibitions are among the most important means of boosting economic development. The situation in the modern world calls for building more and more major CECs, as well as for managing them efficiently. Most congresses and exhibitions are currently held in trade complexes, stadiums and other unspecialised venues. Creating specialised professional CECs, as well as adapting unspecialised venues for congresses and exhibitions, plays a very important role in the economic development of various cities and the nation as a whole, in promoting these locations and increasing their attractiveness for business and tourism.

By joining forces in public-private partnerships, the government and major corporations make investments into building major CECs and create whole congress and exhibition clusters in order to increase the quality of urban life, both from the cultural and economic point of view, and to provide cities with competitive advantages. In this respect, the issue of managing exhibition venues in an efficient manner becomes more and more relevant. For the second time in its history, Europe+Asia Event Forum will serve as an efficient platform for discussing the main trends in the development of venue management.

Invited to participate:

  • representative of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Russian Federation;

PLENARY SESSION

9.00 – 11.00

Plenary session «The cross way of the meetings industry»

Organisers of event and event agencies usually tend to occupy different market niches. The current economic environment, however, calls for new game rules. Companies are expanding their industry of activity, trying to gain a foothold in new sectors. For instance, professional congress managers are testing their merit in holding parties and various corporate and public events, while event companies, in turn, are deviating from mere party-hosting and team-building and are tapping into managing seminars and conferences.

How does this influence the overall development of the industry? And how does this impact the quality of the events? Two businesses: competitors or partners? Can the Jack-of-all-trades principle be applied to hosting events? These are some of the questions that will be put before the session participants.

Invited to participate:

  • representative of exhibition companies;
  • representative of PCO companies;
  • representative of DMC;
